Beginning and ending in Inari (North-West Finnish Lapand), this snowmobile safari will take you across frozen lakes, majestic fells and through the picturesque Arctic wilderness. This is an epic route, passing Sámi villages en route and culminating in a swim in the icy sea...in Norway.

Previous experience on a snowmobile is not essential, but would be a beneficial if you knew what you were letting yourself in for. It can get tiring (and cold) on a snowmobile all day and you do get thrown about a bit. But it's a remarkable amount of fun and any adult should be fine.

And there are no real hardships to endure - accommodation is at luxurious Aurora Resort in Inari village and then at remote Nuorgam Holiday Village - where cabins vary in layout and size, but are invariably cosy, though a little more basic. They have comfortable beds, fireplaces and a separate sauna building, this being Finland after all There are shared toilets, showers and a restaurant on site.

It is possible to extend this trip with an extra day in Nuorgam, where you could head out on to the ocean on a King Crab safari, or with more time relaxing in Inari - where there are a wealth of activities on offer.

All the necessary equipment is provided (thermo-overall, mittens, socks, boots, balaclava & helmet) and insurance for the snowmobile is covered. However, the driver of the snowmobile is held liable for damages caused to the vehicle to a max of €800. No passengers - strictly one to each snowmobile and you must hold a valid driving license.
