If you want the lifts literally right outside your door – the prime ski-in, ski-out location – but don’t have deep enough pockets for the Pisces or Virgo, then the Escorpio Hotel comes to the rescue. It may not have the swanky swimming pool, hot tubs, gym, and spa and there is only one restaurant….but this hotel has excellent value-for-money on its side and is, as already mentioned, ideally located.
They have single, twin, double and triple rooms – not over-sized, but adequate. The restaurant boldly claims to “combine the traditional flavours of French and Mediterranean cuisine”. To be fair, the food is good and we particularly enjoyed the buffet breakfast each day - eggs, bacon, cereals, yogurts, muffins, Danishes pastries, and croissants. You need to remember that you are in Argentina and they eat late - for dinner they have two sittings at 8:45pm and 10pm. If you can’t wait this long, just have a word at the front desk and they can be flexible.
In the evening people tend to gravitate towards the upstairs bar & lounge, where a piano serenades. There are lots of couches and small booths, or alternatively just pull up a stool and chat to one of the friendly bartenders. There is free WiFi in the lobby and this area upstairs – not in the rooms.
The Escorpio shares the family-friendly facilities of the Pisces Hotel – Kids Club, babysitting and games room…etc.
