The hotel scene in Furano is varied and affordable, with hotels, B&Bs, apartments and and a few chalets. The two Prince hotels – the older one in Kitanomine and the newer one at the Furano ski base – are the big, all-singing all-dancing options. New Furano Prince Hotel dominates the base of Furano Zone, housing most of its shops and restaurants, whereas Kitanomine’s goodies are a bit more spread out – cute little cafés, bars, pensions, lodges – giving it a less ‘resorty’ feel; on the flip side, the Furano Prince does also offer convenient ski-in, ski-out accommodation.

Staying in Furano City and taking a shuttle bus to the slopes is an option offered by some tour operators – but, having once done this, we’d rather recommend bedding down near the skiing and heading into the city for après-fun, unless you or someone in your party is planning on spending lots of time away from the slopes.
