This little place is a worthy choice for location, value and atmosphere. Guests at Furano B&B can sleep on a futon in a tatami floor in a Japanese-style room, or stay in a simply furnished Western-style room, and there is a family room for four with a loft and a combination of styles. All rooms have a fridge, and the Western rooms come with an en suite bathroom. The shared bathrooms (spotless we should say) come with Japanese tubs, as is traditional.

It’s just a few minutes to Kitanomine Gondola, and there are several inviting restaurants and bars nearby; but do be aware of a midnight curfew - indeed, lights tend to start going out at 10pm. It's not a party place, as B&B Furano’s owner sets a quiet, courteous precedent, and whilst the place has a friendly vibe, it will never be raucous. We enjoyed swapping ski stories in the lounge, and really appreciated the hearty breakfasts and the top-notch drying room, which left our boots toasty each morning.
