Adjacent to two of the Higashiyama district’s famous sights, Kyoto National Museum and the golden statues of Sanjusangen-do Temple, the Hyatt Regency has a reputation as the city’s best luxury hotel. Great style, smooth service and top-notch food served under the moody lighting of Touzan Japanese restaurant are just a few of our reasons for liking it. There are actually three restaurants – in addition to Touzan there is one Italian and another grill restaurant – as well as an indulgent spa, and a fitness centre offering yoga.

The rooms are airy and spacious, with large windows and good bathrooms. Deluxe rooms are bigger than Standard, with separate sitting areas; and Suites are a step-up again, with more space and wooden Hiba tubs so you can soak Japanese style.
