How to Book

We don’t believe in off-the-shelf packages - we tailor-make holidays.

  • Tell us what you want to do. Whether you have detailed plans or just a vague idea, get in contact – we have knowledge, ideas and expertise.
  • We build a tailored itinerary. Once you’ve received it, we can answer any further questions and refine it until you are completely happy.
  • Book it. When you are satisfied with all the arrangements, we ask you to complete a booking form and pay a deposit, at which point we start confirming everything.

Different Snow is a fully bonded tour operator, which means we automatically take responsibility for your whole holiday, offering you 100% financial security.

One of the largest private rentals in Hirafu, PowderHound Lodge is a homely and affordable choice for large groups or families of up to 12 people. It has five bedrooms, including two doubles, two twins, and a Japanese-style Tatami room accommodating up to four people on roll-out futons on the floor – a fun Japanese experience for young ones. The Upper Hirafu location is also ideal for groups, with hassle-free access to both the skiing and all the fun of the village below.

Inside there’s plenty of entertainment space for everyone, including two living rooms with TV, DVD player and stereo. There’s also a piano for budding musicians! If you feel like dining in, you can make use of the fully equipped kitchen and eight-seater dining area.

The lodge is perfectly located amongst all of the action in Upper Hirafu village, only a very brief walk to restaurants and bars, and you are just one block back from the local supermarket. The shuttle bus stop is also within two minutes walk and the lifts are only a five minute flat walk.

This is affordable, excellent value accommodation for larger groups. An indicative per night cost for the whole house for a during the lowest ski-viable season would be circa ¥82,000 (£475), rising to circa ¥100,000 (£580) per night during the peak periods. This works out at less than ¥7,000 (£40) each during low season and just over ¥8,000 (£50) each during peak season, presuming a full compliment of guests.
