Take a day off the slopes and visit the second oldest city in Hokkaido. This is where the snow meets the sea, and it is famous for its sushi and on this day tour you'll learn to make it yourself in a local restaurant. Later it's time to tipple some saké in one of the local breweries. Spend the afternoon shopping for gifts and traditional Japanese souvenirs.
Otaru also holds the famous Snow Gleaming Festival during February, during which the city becomes decorated in lights and small snow statues for ten days. The festival usually runs at the same time as the Sapporo Ice Festival, making it possible to combine both festivals on the same trip if you are fortunate to be here at the right time.
This is a fully guided tour and includes transport, lunch and guide.
