3 Bedrooms / 4 Bedrooms / 6+ Bedrooms

As part of the Rusutsu Resort complex, there are 10 stand-alone houses we have access to. You are able to share all the facilities of the hotel - onsens, swimming pools, restaurants..etc - but with the freedom to shut away the glitz and be self-contained in the grounds. They are wonderfully located, just at the bottom of the Western pistes, with immediate access to both the slopes and the lifts.

The largest Log Houses can sleep a maximum of 24 - large chalets reminiscent of a hunting lodge in Montana (though I've never actually seen one in Montana, yet this is what I imagine they look like!). The sleeping arrangements are really quite communal, in large rooms of bunk bed and dorms of single beds, with a few smaller twin rooms thrown in for good measure.  There are also two smaller log houses, sleeping six and four respectively. Far cozier are the lovely little cottages, which sleep six in three twin rooms.

Each comes with a living area - though the kitchens leave a lot to be desired. Fine for making a cup of tea, but one gets the distinct impression that they would prefer that you came in to the resort proper to eat of an evening.

As part of the Rusutsu Resort grounds, you have direct ski-in, ski-out access to the West Mountain, where there are beginners’ slopes plus night skiing and the kids’ snow park. To head over to the slopes on the East Side and Mount Isola you simply head over towards Rusutsu Tower on the mono-rail. Easy.

Prices obviously vary by size and season. A Cottage, sleeping six people, would costs circa ¥46,000 (£265) per night in the lowest (ski-able) season, whereas the largest Log House which sleeps up to 24, would cost ¥165,000 (£955) per night during this same season. Prices go up by half as much again during peak seasons.
