Using the reliable and easy-to-navigate trains and then simply wandering the streets of Tokyo’s various districts you’re sure to make your own discoveries – and that’s all part of the fun. But big cities (and there are only few larger than Tokyo!) can be alienating so, we’re on hand to provide tips or organise excursions. We know Tokyo at Different Snow and you'll find our tours or comprehensive self-guiding notes invaluable. If you plan to get the most from your time in Tokyo, you need plan.

Tokyo has all manner of museums – from anime to art history; world-class shopping; quirky boutiques and cat cafes; interactive technology centres; and atmospheric historic sites – particularly in Asakusa. The gardens in Shinjuku, Ueno or the Imperial Palace can often provide perfectly timed respite from the hubbub. Come night time, we love the sensory overload of Kabuki-cho or the alternative vibe in Kichijoji for delicious food and plenty merriment, whatever your budget.

If you like your experiences a little more immersive, we have plenty of ideas to get under the skin of this amazing city. And if you don't want to confine yourself to this endless and bottomless city, then nearby are historic Nikko and Kamakura and scenic Hakone, famous for its hot springs and views to Mount Fuji.
