Think of Japan and you may well think of anime, the distinctly Japanese style of animation which has spread like wild fire to influence film industries around the world. Studio Ghibli is behind major anime films such as My Neighbour Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle and, of course, Spirited Away – Japan’s all-time biggest box office hit and an international favourite. The Ghibli Museum provides a window into their magical world. With the motto: ‘Let’s Get Lost Together’, the museum is designed as an interactive fantasy world, aimed at allowing you to experience the surreal, colourful imagination of Hayao Miyazaki, who has been described as ‘Japan’s Walt Disney’.
It’s well worth a visit, but tickets are in very high demand, so please be willing to be flexible and give us plenty of notice.
