How about…simply because you can! Morocco’s nearby, it gets snowfall every winter in the high Atlas Mountains, there are permanent ski lifts and it’s something that’s just that little bit whacky. It’s hard to resist adding Africa to the list of continents in which you’ve skied.

If you need further encouragement…

It’s different!

The skiing up in Oukaïmeden is quite unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Not without it’s challenges, Jebel Attar (the mountain) has five lifts, over 12 miles of piste and, on a good day, it’s even possible to find some un-tracked powder. We’ve got the video footage to prove it!

The Atlas Mountains

The mountain scenery here is totally spectacular. These are African Mountains, with the Sahara Desert at their base.

So near, yet so far

Minimal flight time, but with maximum cultural impact, Morocco can never underwhelm. Who’d have though you could get somewhere quite so exotic a mere three hours flight time from the UK.

A classic Marrakech city break

This is a ski trip which lends itself wonderfully to a long weekend - which doesn’t really count as a holiday, does it!? For a romantic winter break, Marrakech takes some beating. You can stay in a characterful riad - large traditional Moroccan houses which are built around a central courtyard. Many have now lovingly been converted into hotels.

Winter is low season in Morocco

During the winter, Morocco is at its cheapest. The same hotel or riad may cost double – quite literally – during the busier periods, yet for Marrakech’s year-around residents the most agreeable weather is during the still-sunny winter months. Therefore, whilst it isn’t quite The Alps, you’ll have both a winter break and ski adventure, all for a great value price. And now you can tell people you’ve skied above the Sahara.
