Wine, Desert, Coast & Ski

Duration: two weeks

We've tried to shoe-horn the best of Chile in to the itinerary and we think we've succeeded. Your holiday begins with a tour of the Winelands and the coastal cities, before heading up to the other-worldly spaces of the Atacama Desert. From here it's back down to the capital before heading to a ski resort for the week. For the sake of demonstration, we've included Corralco in this itinerary bit it could, just as easily, be Portillo, Valle Nevado or Nevados de Chillán.

Day 1

Arrive in Santiago Airport (SCL) and transfer to your hotel in the city centre. Relax after your international flights

Day 2

Head to the winelands and travel towards the Pacific Coast, through the valley of Casablanca. Stay in Casona Hotel, which is part of the Vineyard.

Day 3

Tour of the wine cellar and an explanation of the processes of wine-making, bottling and storage. At the end of the tour you enjoy lunch at the restaurant and in the afternoon transfer to Valparaiso.

Day 4

Discover Valparaiso like a native … walk through its streets, admiring its particular architecture. Lunch at Jota Cruz Social Club for a classic popular dish "La Chorrillana". Take a Trolley Bus through the city. At the end of the afternoon, transfer back to Santiago.

Day 5

Transfer to the airport to board flight to Calama and then transfer to San Pedro in the Atacama Desert.

Day 6-7

Exploration of the Atacama Desert, with your local guide and transport.

Day 8

Transfer to the airport of Calama to board a flight back to Santiago. You are then transferred back to the city centre and it's time for a city tour – Plaza de Armas, Vega Central and Palacio de Gobierno.

Day 9

Head back to Santiago Airport to board your flight to Temuco. Transfer from the airport to your hotel up at Corralco.

Days 10-16

A full week's skiing in Corralco (or any other of the Chilean ski resorts).

Day 17

Transfer back to Temuco and flight back up to Santiago, ready for your onward flights.

It all depends quite how much luxury you feel you need (or deserve!) and prices can vary hugely depending on the accommodation selected. The other significant factor can be the season   the peak being July and early August.
