The best of Japan & Korea

Japan & South Korea

Duration: two weeks

If we were the design the perfect Asian ski (and cultural) itinerary, it would look a lot like this. You begin with time on the slopes of PyeongChang district, basing yourself in Yongpyong. This itinerary allows for three full days in the slopes in South Korea, before heading back to Seoul for some time in this enthralling capital. We'd certainly encourage you to head up to the DMZ for the tour – a rather surreal and memorable experience.

It's then time to fly onwards on the short hop to Japan. Many will choose to fly directly in to Sapporo (Hokkaido Island) and head to Niseko, Japan's most internationally famous resort. However, there is no prerogative to do so and Furano or Rusutsu could also be options on Hokkaido Island, alternatively Hakuba or Nozawa Onsen on Honshu – the main island. Wherever you choose, you are certain to ski or ride in some of the best snow of your life. The itinerary ends, many would say climaxes, with several days in Tokyo.

As always, this is merely a sample itinerary. Want to spend even more time on the slopes? Rather, would you prefer more time in the cities? All possible – every itinerary we create is tailor-made around your preferences.

Day 1

Depart from the UK, flying directly to Incheon Airport on Korean Airlines.

Day 5

Jump on the KTX train, which takes you directly back to the Korean capital, Seoul . Check in to your central hotel.

Day 6

Full day in or around Seoul – either tour the city or head out to the DMZ.

Day 7

Transfer to the airport and fly to Japan. It's a short flight (two hours). You could choose to ski on Hokkaido (Niseko or Furano) or down on the main island (Hakuba or Nozawa Onsen). In either instance, it takes another few hours to reach your resort.

Days 8-12

Five days skiing in Japan, on some of the best powder snow in the world.

Day 13

Flight or bullet-train back to Tokyo, where you check in to your hotel in the Shinjuku district.

Day 14

Full day in Tokyo – Japan's capital and the world's most exciting city. We can leave you to your own devices or organise a tour for you.

Day 15

Transfer to the airport for your flights back home from Tokyo.

Obviously, cost depends on which accommodation you choose, how many excursions and activities you want to book, whether you wish to include ski hire and lift passes, etc. An indicative lead-in price for this two week itinerary would be circa £1,250 per person, based on 3 or 4 star accommodation (low season), transfers and lift passes.
